terms of service

effective may 12, 2026 · version 1.0

tl;dr — the whitelabel extension is free and open source. you can use it for work or play. you keep what you create. you're responsible for any third-party api keys you plug in and for following the rules of any site you visit while using it. we provide it as-is with no warranties. if you don't agree with this page, please don't use the extension.

/01 agreement

these terms are an agreement between you and whitelabel.dev ("whitelabel", "we", "us"). by installing, opening, or using the whitelabel browser extension (the "extension") or the whitelabel.dev website (the "site"), you accept these terms. if you do not accept them, do not install the extension and do not use the site.

/02 license to use

subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the extension and the site for any lawful purpose. the extension's source code is also published on github under its own open-source license — that license governs your right to fork, modify, and redistribute the source. these terms govern your use of the binary we publish to the extension stores and of this site.

/03 your account & content

the extension works without an account. anything you create or store inside it — todos, notes, captures, recordings, downloads, assets, team data — belongs to you. we do not claim ownership of it. because the extension is local-first, that data lives in your browser, not on our servers (see the privacy policy for the few exceptions).

you are responsible for backing up anything you can't afford to lose. uninstalling the extension or clearing its storage will permanently delete its data.

/04 bring-your-own keys (ai providers)

when you use the ai chat or designer features, the extension calls third-party providers — currently anthropic and openai — using your own api key. those providers' terms apply to those calls. you are responsible for:

  • obtaining and securing your own api key from each provider you use
  • any cost, rate limit, or policy violation arising from those api calls
  • not sharing your api key, and rotating it if it's compromised

we do not store, log, or proxy your api keys or your prompts. the extension calls the provider directly from your browser.

/05 acceptable use

you agree not to use the extension or the site to:

  • break any applicable law, regulation, or court order
  • infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights
  • download, capture, or rebroadcast content in a way that violates the terms of service of the source platform (for example, instagram, x, tiktok, youtube, linkedin)
  • attempt to defeat technical protection measures on a third party's platform
  • harass, threaten, defame, or impersonate any person
  • distribute malware or content that exploits, abuses, or sexualizes minors
  • generate or distribute content that violates an ai provider's usage policies
  • reverse-engineer or interfere with the extension or site for malicious purposes

the extension's downloader, capture, and audit tools are provided so you can save, archive, and analyze content you have the right to access and use. use of those tools to scrape protected content, evade paywalls, or violate a third-party platform's terms is your responsibility, not ours.

/06 dmca & takedowns

if you believe content stored, displayed, or made accessible through whitelabel infringes your copyright, send a notice to legal@whitelabel.dev with:

  • identification of the copyrighted work
  • identification of the allegedly infringing material and where it lives
  • your contact information
  • a statement of good-faith belief that use is not authorized
  • a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner
  • your physical or electronic signature

we'll act on valid notices within a reasonable time and may forward the notice to the user involved. counter-notices follow the same process in reverse.

/07 third-party services

the extension and site link to or interact with third-party services. when it does, those services' own terms and privacy policies apply. we are not responsible for their behavior, downtime, or content. specifically: anthropic, openai, google, duckduckgo, and the social platforms whose content scripts you enable.

/08 no warranty

the extension and site are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. to the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from a course of dealing or trade usage. we do not warrant that the extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or compatible with every browser or every site you visit.

/09 limitation of liability

to the maximum extent permitted by law, whitelabel.dev and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, or data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the extension or the site. our total liability for any direct damages will not exceed the greater of fifty u.s. dollars or the amount you paid us for the extension in the prior 12 months — which, for the free extension, is zero.

/10 termination

you can stop using the extension at any time by uninstalling it. we can suspend, modify, or discontinue any feature of the extension or the site at any time without prior notice. we can also revoke your right to use whitelabel if you materially breach these terms. the sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (license restrictions, ownership, disclaimers, liability, governing law) will survive.

/11 governing law & disputes

these terms are governed by the laws of the state of delaware, united states, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. any dispute arising from or related to these terms or your use of whitelabel will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in delaware, and you agree to submit to that jurisdiction. nothing in this section limits any non-waivable consumer right you may have under the law of your residence.

/12 changes

we may update these terms. when we do, we'll bump the version number at the top and update the "effective" date. material changes are also called out in the extension's release notes. continued use after a change means you accept the new version. if you don't accept it, please uninstall.
